A basic installation consists of the following components or modules:
1. Sever Module -
The administrative part of DIS-Imaging. The Server Module maintains and controls the Profiles, Lists, Indexes, Indexer, and file serves the labeled PDF Documents. The Server Module has the Labeler Module and Viewer Module built into it.
- DIS-Imaging Server should be installed on a dedicated server. Its primary function is indexing and file serving. It can be installed on a workstation for light duty standalone and small workgroup installations.
- Requires Windows Server 2000/2003 (Windows XP Pro if workstation)
- Requires Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_06 and Adobe Reader*
2. Labeler Module -
The Labeler Module Scans, Labels, and Saves the PDF Documents. The Labeler Module has the Viewer Module built into it.
- DIS-Imaging Labeler should be installed on dedicated workstations. Its primary function is the scanning and labeling of documents.
- Requires Windows XP Pro
- Requires Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_06 and Adobe Reader
- NOTE: The Labeler Module contains all the basic functionality required to scan and label PDFs along with some basic image manipulation (rotate, crop). If you desired to "launch" the PDF and pass it onto a full featured PDF program, such as Adobe Acrobat, the Labeler Module can do so. You can modify the PDF within the program and save it back into the DIS-Imaging System. The use of Adobe's "Sticky Notes" and other commenting tools are a good example of useful features within Adobe Acrobat. Any workstation that needs this functionality will need a licensed copy of the DIS-Imaging Labeler installed on it.
3. Viewer Module -
The Viewer Module Searches and views PDF Documents.
- DIS-Imaging Viewer should be installed on workstations. Its primary function is searching for and viewing of documents.
- Requires Windows 2000/XP
- Requires Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_06 and Adobe Reader*
- NOTE: The Viewer Module contains all the basic functionality required to Search and View labeled PDFs. It uses only copies of the original PDFs, never the originals. While it can "launch" a PDF and pass it onto a full featured PDF program such as Adobe Acrobat; it is only a copy. Any changes WILL NOT be saved back into the DIS-Imaging System
